Guest Internet Issue - orbitmic - 12-21-2025

My guest is saying that they are unable to connect their cell phones (iPhones) and MacBooks to my WiFi. However, both the TVs and the digital lock are connecting without an issue. My most recent guest also never mentioned anything and when I was there 1.5weeks ago, there weren’t any issues either. I’ve had this airbnb for 3.5yr and this is the first time I’ve encountered this. I’ve remotely reset the Internet, had xfinity reset from their end and also have had the guest reset the modem/router. I clearly have internet and it’s their devices that are not connecting for some reason. Anyone else experience this before? The guests seem to be pretty familiar with tech but it does seem like they own older devices. I’m also not sure exactly how much responsibility I have to ensuring that their devices can connect but feel like I’m going to get a poor review regardless.

How old are their devices? What models? You might be using a very new version of the wifi standard and their older phones won't connect to it. I think about the iPhone 13/14 level is where the problems start but I'm going by memory.

If it turns out it's an old phone issue you can get an older access point and set it up along side the wifi you have for older devices.

Tbh I doubt the guest is good with tech. You really only get a guest saying that when something is wrong and they want to blame you for it. In this case I would go over and help with the wifi if you can or maybe call and see if the wifi is out in the area maybe?

I had one guest tell me they worked in tech and were very good with tech but couldn't find my check in instructions anywhere and tried to blame me. Turns out their app wasn't updated so they were sent them, they just couldn't see them on their end. But yeah, they were tech savvy smh.
